Lagos

Lagos is a fantastic city in the western Algarve that can certainly be enjoyed by all age groups. It is full of historical interest with its origins dating as far back as 2000 years b.C. when it was known as Lacobriga.

Lagos region is one of the most visited locations in the Algarve and Portugal, due to its variety of tourist-friendly beaches, rock formations, bars, restaurants and hotels, renowned for its vibrant summer nightlife and parties.

Classified in 2012 by the travel website TripAdvisor, as the number 1 travel destination, on a list of "15 destinations on the rise" worldwide, Lagos has some stunning views, from the Ponte da Piedade (in front of the lighthouse) you get a fantastic view of the sweeping sands of Lagos bay with the Monchique hills as a backdrop, and you can see all the way to Sagres to the west and past Albufeira to the east.
